Working...

Still drafting away, this time on the final. I've been doing a ton of research and reconsidering, so plot is getting juicier by the minute and so are the characters! I've been so absorbed that I haven't been able to spare any energy for blogging--and my apologies to those who commented and then probably gave up long ago on ever getting a response from me. Mea culpa, particularly since I am painfully pleased to hear from readers--FLORA'S DARE has long since vanished without a trace from bookstores, and I was beginning to think that no one but me and my grandmother had actually read it. How lovely to hear the contrary!

I've been doing research on bears. (The reason behind this will be clear later.)

Here's a very cool video I found of a bear getting a swimming lesson.

I particularly like the way in which he gets into the pool just as a human would.

Yr obt svt.

Does this have anything to do with Tiny Doom's bear mask, or is that a red herring? No, I don't actually expect you to answer that. :)

I have been tracking down your short fiction. The latest one I've read is "The Lineaments of Gratified Desire." It almost humanized Hardhands. (In my opinion, anyway. Don't think I don't feel weird for thinking that ... because I do.) Seeing the older generation of the Flora books when they were young has been a very interesting experience. (I haven't read "Metal More Attractive" yet. "The Biography of a Bouncing Boy Terror" I think was how I was introduced to your work.)

If your short stories were to be collected, I would definitely spring for that ... don't know how likely that is, though.

Looking forward to Flora #3. Thanks for the update. :)

Hmmm...bear masks. She who lives will see, as Nini Mo said!

I'm glad you liked the short stories. I have a grudging fondness for Hardhands...it's rough being the spare wheel, particularly to a moppet. So I am pleased that the stories made him seem a little more human!

As for short story collections, actually, it's not as unlikely as you think. I will say no more for now, but later will make a more concrete comment! Short stories are definitely not my forte, but they are fun to do when I can keep them from turning into novels!

Thanks for the comment!

Which book are you working on?
I really want to read FLORA'S FURY! I really wish you could post your rough draft, but I know you probably can't. :( If not could you tell me how far along you are?
